Backlinks, 4 to-dos & 4 to-don'ts

Author: Alan Currens

I'm not a guru, just an SEO Scout, but I have some fantastically effective campaigns running because I take advice from the best in the industry. Here's some tips I apply based on what I've learned from the SEO mentors I follow.

DON’T DO THESE THINGS:

1. Don’t have tons of out-going site links on any one webpage! More than 100 out-going site links has a negative impact.

2. You are liable for any hyperlink that you set in your website! So if you link to bad internet sites you will be punished. (Google guide line)

3. A Hyperlink from a website page with a PR less than 3 benefits, but it doesn’t aid too much. And a hyperlink from a website page not related to your site’s content is NO help and may even hurt… so don’t spend too much time building hyperlinks from extraneous or low ranking websites.

4. Some SEO professionals keep away from two way linking strategy at all. Just be careful and picky and you should be ok. After all the web is a community and we should all cultivate a culture of helping each other.

DO THESE THINGS:

1. Doing great content writing work surely will get you quality hyperlinks…

2. Write one of a kind and helpful articles on your specialty topics with site links back to several different pages in your site (not just the home page)

3. Link to your web site with anchor text that are keywords or keyphrases and be positive the anchor text are surrounded by related key words of content relative to them.

4. Blog and forum signature oneway links posted in comment boxes of pertinent blogs or forums
