An Easter Reminder

Author: K Vanwoerkom

With Easter nearby quite a few Americans are b to think about decorating eggs, celebrating Christ's resurrection, and decorating Easter cookies with our closest friends. Even people who aren't really religious often still enjoy religious occasions for example Christmas and Easter seeing as these observances are a large aspect of our national culture. Regardless of whether you are Christian or not, Easter gives us all a reason to honor. Easter comes at the onset of spring. Considering the beautiful 60 degree weather we have had recently in Colorado I can almost feel Spring right around the corner and I am excited to welcome once again the season of rebirth. If you have a family you are probably getting ready for seasonal projects and activities for your children as they look forward to the Easter Bunny’s visit. The Easter Bunny is another case of how we have managed to turn a religious celebration into something that anyone can observe. Let me ask you a question. Why do people honor Easter in any sense but its religious sense? The conclusion… Spring pulls us out of our winter hibernation and stimulates us to make good on resolutions we we might not have yet started.

Although New Year’s resolutions are normally developed in January, it is not until Spring that we generally begin to focus on them. Nice weather, new growth, and sunshine are better motivators than snow, icy winds, and murky days. In spring we start eating less, leaving the house more, exercising more, and thinking more positively. These are all things that make us happier and why shouldn’t we share our happiness with those we love? People living in colder regions generally struggle more with depression. Do you think this is a coincidence? As you get back into your New Year’s resolutions for the first time since starting them back in January, why not share your happiness with those around you?

Easter is a good time to rejoice in the gift of new life. We celebrate by giving Easter gifts to our neighbors, family, and children as if saying life’s a present, let’s honor it! We observe the regrowth of nature and hopefully appreciate our natural surroundings a slight bit more. We plant new flowers and tend to our gardens and breathe in the joy of the season. We use heat and electricity less as we get ourselves outdoors away from home and make the most of the beautiful days. If you value these elements of spring just as much as I do, why not share your happiness with your loved ones? Send an Easter gift to a distant pal, your family in another country, or your nieces and nephews. Assemble a basket that incorporates one of the previously discussed topics. How about giving a basket full of healthy snacks or put your present in an eco-friendly basket? Another option is to express thankfulness for your many blessings by delivering a gift full of products that donate proceeds to charity. If you do not have enough time or the ability to get something together yourself, why not let Baskets By Rita do it for you.
