One reason people miss breakfast is they think they don't have enough time, but you're not going to use that excuse if you want to lose weight. Breakfast is vital to weight loss because it fires up your metabolism.

Prepared breakfasts may seem like a good choice, but examine the labels of so-called "healthy" breakfast meals before you buy them. They may be loaded with sodium, fat and sugar, and not include nutrients like protein and vitamins. Be sure to include protein with every breakfast (and every other meal) because it feeds your metabolism.

Fruit is an excellent component of any weight reduction meal. It is low in calories, refreshing and full of vitamins like Vitamin C to build your immunity and healthy carbs for energy. You can use either fresh or frozen fruit. Try to eat different types of fruits during the week, as each fruit contains different micronutrients that are important to your health.

Whole grains are another key ingredient to a healthy meal. A bowl of brown rice, a slice of whole grain toast, or a bowl of high-fiber cereal will help to please you and to help you eat less the rest of the day. You will also get a good quantity of fiber which helps to keep your GI tract clean which is also helpful for weight loss.

Lean proteins and low-fat dairy will add to a weight loss meal nicely. A high quality whey protein shake with milk is a super choice because the whey protein feeds your immunity and gives you energy and milk provides calcium and a secret ingredient to help your weight loss. Canadian bacon, yogurt and skim milk are a few other delicious selections you can add to the first meal of the day, but there is something you shouldn't add...

Be sure that you don't add fats to your otherwise healthy breakfast. Coating your whole wheat English Muffin with butter, or dunking your eggs in bacon grease will stymie your weight loss. It really comes down to being smart. You obviously wouldn't add fat to your other meals, so don't include them to your breakfast either.
