QUESTION: Can increasing my confidence increase my income?

ANSWER: Confidence makes you money, FUD costs you money.

During the past three years of economic turmoil I have heard many of my clients say, “It seems like I have to work 10 times harder for the same results I used to get before.” When people have to work harder for less money, less results, and less returns, many become less confident and less secure. Then the FUD monster will eat away your income costing you possibly thousands of dollars a year. What is the FUD monster? Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt. Has he been knocking on your door lately?

Here is what my personal studies have found: confident people are doing well in these times; but people who have allowed fear, uncertainty, and doubt to control their lives are living in frustration and not earning as much as they want or need.

The difference between the thrivers and the survivors is simply the confidence to just do it, go for it, ask for it, and take massive action in the face of fear. Confident people do not allow FUD to hold them back by avoiding risk and the possibility of failure.

There is ample evidence to support the argument that confident people make more money than those who allow fear, uncertainty, and doubt to control their lives. For example, a 2007 study conducted by Timothy Judge, a professor at the University of Florida, determined that young people who are self-confident will go on to earn hundreds of thousands of dollars more over their lifetimes than young people with less confidence.
