Qantas flight crews not thrilled by Travolta phenomenon
John Travolta is a global ambassador for Qantas Airways. He is in a film that is shown before flights for safety. The Daily Mail explains that you will find some followers that are happy about this. Nevertheless, the crew members on Qantas flights do not like it at all. Any flights on Airbus A380 can have the safety video shown on it. The crew is then praised by Travolta. This is very “cheesy” and “tacky” content according to flight crews. The crew claims it's annoying because “it makes us feel like we work at McDonald’s” while the crew is referred to as “team” instead of “crew” as they would prefer. They also said the “safety message seems trite” in the film.
Saying it would be better with a real pilot
Employees of Qantas that serve as flight crew have suggested that Qantas film a new video with a "real pilot," in accordance with Time. Recently, an A380 aircraft motor failed although the pilot guided it to safety anyway. This is why many suggested the pilot of this aircraft, Captain Richard de Crespigny, be used for the Qantas film. The Qantas flight was taken by Crespigny. It left from Singapore as flight 32. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation states that he was able to turn around and make a safe landing after an engine started to burst into flames when the engine had trouble. There were about 460 people on QF32 when Crespigny landed and saved lives. When it comes to getting g a spokesperson many like the idea of him better. Travolta has not done anything to deserve the role.
Qantas could find new celeb spokesman by going up the irons
You will find a lot of celeb pilots that are licensed. John Travolta is one of the few that can fly commercial jets though. If a celebrity spokesman must be had, Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson currently pilots Boeing 757s for British charter airline Astraeus while the band is inactive. In 2008, Astraeus was used by the band to fly it, the cargo and the crew all in one plane. A 757 was used to do this. The plane, named "Ed Force One" after the band's infamous mascot "Eddie the Head," was showcased in "Flight 666," a documentary about the tour the band used the plane on. Ed Force One, in accordance with the Astraeus site, is about to head out on its second outing.
