Ten years ago, I decided to move to Italy. The odds were against me; I didn’t speak the language, I didn’t know anyone there, I didn’t have work and I didn’t have permanent housing. Loads of people told me I was crazy and I’d never make it because there were no jobs and the economy has seriously seen better days. Sound familiar?

Today people around the world are living in fear—for lack of knowledge. You’ve heard the saying, “What you don’t know won’t hurt you.” I don’t agree. Ignorance kills, it kills your freedom of choice. This is the real problem affecting millions of people today. Not the economy. Are you one of them?

I am here to let you know that you have choices—lots of choices. You have power, especially in times of adversity. If you had the key to not just survive, but grow and thrive in these very times…would you use it? Would you have enough courage to walk up to the door and unlock it with that key? We’ll see, because I’m about to give it to you.

I am about to share a powerful message that has made me tons of money, regardless of the country I was in, the state of the economy and in spite of the circumstances. With this knowledge, even if you have just $1 dollar in your pocket, you can make thousands if not millions with this key. You would be so secure that you could lose it all, at this very moment—and not break a sweat or lose sleep. How do I know? It happened to me. At one point I lost everything I had. Everything. Can you imagine?

So here’s what I learned 10 years ago that will help you always see a way out when the circumstances seem to be contrary.

I often use the analogy of a CAR when working with my clients. A car gets you from point A to point B; it keeps you safe from the rain and gets you to your destination. Sometimes there are stops (planned and unplanned) along the way, but eventually you get there—if you follow your roadmap or directions.

Well for me CAR stands for so much more…

The C in CAR stands for Creativity. What passions, skills, talents do you have that are wasting away or unused? This one thing has alone literally makes billions of dollars each year—and it’s absolutely free. Here are a few questions to get started:

• What are my goals, dreams, passions & desires?
• What have I been doing for years that I could be getting paid for?
• What problems do I see and hear around me every day that I could solve?
• How can I take advantage of the opportunities that change has brought?

Creativity is a powerful thing. It helped me start an education business in Sweden from scratch. I took it from an idea to reality. Much like when I moved to Italy I did not speak Swedish nor did I know anyone there. I still chuckle at the guy I was dating at the time; he asked me mockingly, “Is there even any money in education?” I replied, “Yes and no. It depends on who you ask!” After a couple months, I had contracts with private schools and organizations, holding workshops for the children of diplomats, CEOs and entrepreneurs who paid $700 a pop for my 8-hour courses.

Now I didn’t get to where I am without the A in CAR, which stands for Audacity.
I know it’s a popular word now since President Obama used it, but I used it first. He should pay me royalties… Seriously, during times of change, there is so much opportunity out there. Yes, change brings tremendous opportunity. This is not the time to be timid, withdraw or cut back—it’s a time to be bold, explore and to expand!

How do you think I just up and move to foreign countries (without speaking the language, mind you), start businesses and find clients in a matter of weeks? Yes, I admit that I have a talent and a knack for it, but anyone can learn how to do it. It takes creativity and it takes audacity.

This leads to the R in CAR. It stands for Resilience. Face it. You aren’t going to survive these times without it. Unfortunately, many people seem to have lost it. What a shame! They could have been leading lives of purpose and abundance—instead of mediocrity and poverty. Do you truly know how important resilience is to our society? Without resilience, we wouldn’t be enjoying the blessings of medical breakthroughs, light bulbs, telephones or computers.

You’re probably thinking…you just said you have moved to countries and started businesses in just weeks. Yes, I did, but it wasn’t always that way. What seems to be an overnight success story—never is. What I didn’t mention earlier was the years I paid my dues using my skills and passions, learning the dos and don’ts of internationalization, business-building, cultural etiquette, foreign client attraction techniques, learning languages, trial and error—it took a whole lot of resilience!

Creativity + Audacity + Resilience = Freedom & Fabulous Income

You owe it to society to find your purpose, passion, talents—and use them to bless others. It is your obligation. People are literally starving for your message, for your support and for your solutions. Would you ignore someone who was dying of starvation and you owned a restaurant?

Now get in your CAR, not the one in your garage, but the one in your mind, in your heart and in your soul—and DRIVE! I challenge you to adopt the opportunity mindset. Look for one outlet for extra income per day, but not just to look for it—TAKE ACTION!
