Raw Vegan Foods As A Method To Gain Back Health But Not As A Means To Maintain Health

Uncooked vegetarian food is said to cleanse plus nourish the body. It is said to help people achieve weight loss or weight gain, depending on what is appropriate. It has been suggested to give us beautiful complexions and increased energy and stamina. But is it meant on a long term basis?

The raw vegan diet has absolutely proven itself to be a wonderful healing system however the most recent suggestions are that raw foods is not appropriate for a lifetime. Granted, the body can eliminate disease, bring itself back to balance, remove toxic buildup and fat stores and see increased stamina and energy when allowed the right tools, one of which is uncooked vegetarian foods.

Uncooked vegetarian food, preferably pesticide-free, is generally a part of a very healthy diet. Being that heat usually destroys enzymes and nutrients, consuming foods in the raw state definitely seems valid. To say though that the raw meat-less diet is the most natural diet may be a little misleading.

When researching indigenous cultures you will find very few if any that do not have meat and cooked foods in their daily diet. A great number of these cultures live well over one hundred years of age when adhering to their natural diets. Also worth mentioning, chimps consume meat, insects and honey & propolis.

There is more and more evidence with the frail hair, brittle nails, thin frames and rotting teeth that being on a 100 percent raw vegan diet for the long term might be a wrong way to go. It appears our systems require more than what is offered by a completely plant based diet. This information is coming as a shock to many folks part of the raw food community.

It is worth noting though that the common choices for meat, fish, eggs and milk products available to most people are less than healthy. Many of the meat options are toxic before they even reach the plate. However many more options for healthfully raised animals are beginning to show up as people become more conscious of what's actually in their foods.

Now, for the short term, to cleanse and heal, some natural health professionals are still suggesting strictly raw vegetarian foods. These raw plant foods would be ideal when they are harvested from the wild or grown without pesticides. Also, consuming the plants in raw state and also in liquid or smoothie form should assist the body to assimilate and digest them more easily and provide the body with lower digestive stress providing it a great environment to cleanse and possibly heal from a large range of disorders.

However, a growing common belief regarding long term health, is that a large amount of raw vegan foods would be ideal but as well as including some healthy raised fish, eggs, honey and meat included in the mix in order to give the body the remainder of the required nutrients in order to survive and thrive, including B12 and DHA.

It is also really important to chew the food very well prior to swallowing. Cooking the meat, fish and eggs would generally be wise but it has been said that consuming some of it uncooked may be OK to do as well. Also, eating raw honey is certainly the ideal route to go in regards to bee products. We also can't put out of our minds that some nutrients, like lycopene, which has been said to hunt down and destroy pre-cancer cells in our systems, they say is derived from cooking tomatoes.. so heating our plant foods every once in awhile could give some benefit as well.
