Downers Grove, Il- Gecko Hospitality is pleased to announce Larry Friedkin as the new Franchise Partner for Gecko Hospitality in the state of Maryland. Larry brings over 35 years- experience in the Food and Beverage industry in his new role.

Growing up right outside of Philadelphia, Larry has had an entrepreneurial spirit since a very young age. Starting out as a newspaper boy, Friedkin worked a variety of jobs building up to his first Restaurant position as a busboy at the age of 14. He continued in the hospitality industry through High School, working as a dishwasher at a Chinese Restaurant. As college started, it was natural to continue in the area he enjoyed, and started waiting tables and bartending at the casual theme restaurant H.A.Winston and Co. which helped him pay for nearly all his college costs at the University of Delaware. After 7 years of working through the ranks, he became a multi-unit General Manager, and left shortly thereafter.

Joining Metromedia Restaurants in 1987, he spent nearly 15 years at Steak and Ale, the last 10 1/2 as an Area Director guiding 9 locations and being named “Operator of the Year” in 1998. In 2001. Larry joined O’Charley’s Inc. and opened up 5 locations during his nearly 9 year tenure as an Operations Manager.

He has worked with some outstanding people and great leaders. Over the years, having the chance to hire and develop many people, he has built many lasting great relationships. Larry is excited to change gears from Operations to human resources, and work matching candidates with the right clients as he has always enjoyed watching others attain their professional goals. He is extremely grateful to partner with Gecko and plans to continue creating great relationships in his new role.
