The Most Needed 5 Financial Start of the Year 2009 Promises

Author: Bill Spohnholtz

Well it's that time of year again and after the wild Christmas rush you've probably emptied your checking account.

Don't worry over it after all it's a new year. What better time then right now is there to make a shift in your Home Finance situation?

Now before you resolve changes to yourself that you can't possibley keep like I'm going to save 60% of my income; here's 5 resolutions you can proabably actually keep that will make a real difference in your future:

  1. Earn A Pay Boost- Even a reasonable 1% Salary Boost over inflation can improve your quality of life. Just make sure you don't just increase your spending habits.

  2. Give to Seniors-While saving for retirement often feels like it's a long ways away-giving is something you reap the reward for now. Also, unlike vices, giving empowers you to make changes. If you don't believe me give it a try. It's the best investment you'll ever make.

  3. Begin Your Emergency Account-It's likely you don't have enough savings to get you to to your next job if you ended up unemployed. In fact most of us can't afford a simple car repair without diving into the credit cards. Building a six month savings will protect your hard work from getting wiped out when the unexpected happens. Also, you'll feel less afraid about taking some risk when an oppurtunity arises.

  4. Try to Invest For Yourself-Open up a trading account with a discount stock broker and give it a try. For me the fun and excitement made me want to save more and the time I spent learning about companies and investing improved my returns and took up time that I'd normally be wasting money during.

  5. Read a Investing Blog- There are lots of great blogs out there with wonderful training and information, but what's just as important that you don't get from books or news is the community. Many blog owners and followers are amazing people who love to help.

No matter what New Year's resolutions you choose I wish you and your family the best in 2009.
